Testing Growth Opportunities Before Prescribing Workflows at Leavitt

The document advises Leavitt agency leaders and producer-development teams to evaluate which growth opportunities to pursue by testing hypotheses about producer training effectiveness, daily action consistency, and obstacles like prioritization or skill gaps before implementing prescribed workflows, emphasizing the use of existing resources and evidence-based discovery rather than assumptions.

Leavitt: test the growth opportunity before prescribing a workflow

Audience: Leavitt agency leaders, producer-development stakeholders and teams considering Salesloft. Questions covered: Which improvement is worth investigating? How do discovery answers change the recommendation? What would show that a proposed change is unnecessary? Reviewed: September 15, 2026. Content basis: conditional discovery hypotheses, not findings about Leavitt's performance, technology adoption or buying intent. Illustrations refer to an unnamed hypothetical agency team.

Recognize the resources already available

Leavitt describes producer education that includes CRM and sales-tool training. The useful question is how a participating team puts its available resources into practice, rather than whether Leavitt needs to invent producer enablement. Agency growth education; reviewed September 15, 2026

The three hypotheses below are alternatives to investigate. They are not three problems to assign to Leavitt. Ask the question most likely to change the next recommendation, and use facts the visitor has already supplied.

Hypothesis 1: useful training could translate into more consistent daily action

Question: “When a producer knows the next useful step but it does not happen, is the obstacle prioritization, available time, missing context or something else?”

Evidence to inspect: a few opportunities with agreed next actions, the producer's actual work list, competing commitments and any repeated preparation. Establish whether the action was understood and realistic before labeling execution inconsistent.

If the obstacle is visibility or prioritization: test a small, owned next-action routine using reliable information. Judge whether meaningful commitments happen more consistently, not simply whether activity rises.

If the obstacle is skill or relevance: work with the applicable development or coaching owner. Another reminder will not clarify a weak customer proposition or improve qualification by itself.

If the obstacle is capacity: examine responsibilities and avoidable administration across the team. Software does not create another person to complete work that requires judgment.

What would reject the hypothesis: producers already execute useful next steps consistently and the constraint lies elsewhere, such as the suitability of opportunities or the customer's decision timing. Keep the working routine and move to that issue.

Hypothesis 2: eligible marketing interest could become a clearer producer commitment

Question: “Where relevant marketing support is used, how does an eligible response become an accepted producer action today?”

Public basis and limit: Leavitt offers marketing services, but the participating agency's use and handoff process must be established. Affiliation services; reviewed September 15, 2026

Evidence to inspect: the original customer interaction, the eligibility rule, assigned owner, acceptance, current relationship status and subsequent useful action. An email open alone does not establish a request for sales contact.

If ownership is unclear: test explicit acceptance and a next action tied to the person's actual interest. Define what happens when the proposed producer declines or needs more information.

If the context is missing: improve the handoff before accelerating outreach. The producer should understand why the contact is relevant and what has already been communicated.

If no relevant shared marketing service is used: skip this workflow or assess an actual agency-owned source of interest. Do not build a recommendation on an assumed Eloqua deployment or integration.

What would reject the hypothesis: relevant responses already reach the right producer with timely, coordinated follow-up, or the selected interactions do not justify personal contact.

Hypothesis 3: clearer renewal coordination could protect new-business capacity

Question: “Which renewal tasks require producer judgment, and which keep returning because information or ownership is unclear?”

Evidence to inspect: one completed and one delayed example, their due milestones, authoritative dates, receiving owners and the effort spent on status checks. Separate the relationship conversation from information collection and internal preparation.

If handoff quality is the issue: test a concise transfer with the required context, acceptance and an explicit next commitment. Measure rework and combined producer/service effort.

If dates are unreliable: establish the correct source and a small verified set before designing timed outreach. A confident task based on the wrong date may create more work.

If the producer owns the work appropriately: reduce duplicate preparation or review workload with the agency leader. A published shared service does not prove that these tasks can or should be transferred to it.

What would reject the hypothesis: renewal work is timely, ownership is clear and little capacity is lost to coordination. Focus on the stated new-business constraint instead of repeatedly asking about renewals.

Let a different answer produce a different recommendation

For an illustrative agency with effective renewal ownership but slow response to requested prospect meetings, prioritize the marketing-to-producer handoff. Adding a renewal process would distract from the observed problem.

For a different hypothetical team where producers repeatedly reconstruct service context, begin with the accepted handoff. Compare repeated clarification and total effort before expanding prospecting activity.

For a small team where one person holds several roles, simplify the existing routine and choose a manageable scope. Do not solve the example by assuming an extra service employee or a central team with spare capacity.

Bound the conclusion

Each recommendation should state the condition under which it helps, the prerequisite to verify and the observation that would make it unsuitable. The participating agency's stack, communication rules, performance and priorities remain unknown until established.

Relevant customer stories in the Financial Services knowledge pack can support a discussion of comparable mechanisms. They cannot establish Leavitt's starting point, confirm its use of Salesloft or predict an improvement in retention or revenue. If the existing process works well, acknowledging that is a useful outcome of discovery.
